Meet Rhubarb!
We are very excited to advise that we are introducing Pet Therapy to The Link. Pet Therapy can be used to improve social, emotional, or cognitive functioning. Staff were introduced to Rhubarb, the most placid, calm and beautiful Lakeland Terrier during our breakfast meeting on Thursday.
Together with her owner, Lesley Nicolas (who also happens to be one of governors) Rhubarb has passed a Pet’s Therapy training course and has chosen our school to visit on a regular basis
We are hoping that Rhubarb will soon become a familiar face around the school and shortly plan to introduce her to small groups of pupils, so that they can get to know her and enjoy playing with her, talking to her, stroking her, enhancing their love of dogs or simply overcome any fears they may have. We would be very interested to know how your child currently reacts to dogs. Are they wary? Are they confident and used to dogs? Do they or any member of your family have any allergies to fur or dog hair? Please let your child’s class teacher know via the home school book or email the school office, so we can arrange introductions accordingly.
