About Us

The Link Primary School provides specialist teaching and therapy for up to 50 children aged 4 to 11 years whose primary need is Speech, Language and Communication. Some children may also have additional learning or sensory integration needs. A large percentage of pupils also have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

The School has a warm, safe, friendly and nurturing environment which helps children to learn, express their ideas, communicate, develop friendships and grow in confidence and self- esteem. Small classes with high adult to child ratio enable children to settle quickly, move confidently around the school and learn the daily routines which form an integral part of school life.

Children enjoy a wide range of school facilities including an ICT suite, fully equipped hall, food technology room and art room. During playtime they have access to climbing frames, sandpit, trikes and other outdoor toys and games.

A brand new teaching block with facilities for enhanced therapy was completed in September 2015. It also provides the children with larger classrooms and additional outdoor learning opportunities including additional play space, a sunken trampoline and garden allotment.

We foster close relationships with our local community to enable our children to gain valuable life experiences and encourage children to play an active role in extra-curricular activities such as dance and athletics club. A range of off-site activities are available including horse riding and for the older children the opportunity to experience a residential educational visit.

Establishing and developing relationships with parents and carers is a central part of our philosophy. Children learn best when the school and parents work together and we value the contribution that parents make to our school and endeavour to provide many opportunities for quality collaboration.

The Link Primary provides an outstanding education for pupils with communication difficulties in terms of the effective strategies based on strong practitioner research and the holistic curriculum offer that promotes strong personal and social education as well cognitive development. We are pleased that the outstanding judgements have been ratified by OFSTED over three consecutive inspections.
